Following the executive guidelines of EXPO 2015, we focused on satisfying the need to increase the number of operating stations – granting thirty of them in two different workplaces – providing them with a new meeting room in addition to the existing one. Our operation is going to define a functional, comfortable and sober working place, where the flexibility, rationality and identity of the spaces will give an added value to a place that will remain a structure with a temporary and transitory character as the headquarters of EXPO 2015. After assessing the presence of a 5,40m high operative space with false ceiling, we opted for a solution able to increase the existing surface of 120mq thanks to the realization of a mezzanine created by a metal carpentry structure. We used a light, simple, economic and easy to move construction system. On the mezzanine, we could grant twenty operative positions. This solution, allows a better organization of the working spaces. The methodical open space office positioning, divided by an integrated glass-wall system, perfectly match the idea of using the available space with simplicity, and it also lets the natural light coming from the wide windows, spread all over the office. Through this choice, we have not only satisfied the client with a total of forty comfortable operative position, but we alse implemented the working area with a wide and representative meeting room. We deliberately inserted this room in a centric position and easily detectable at a first sight: a “transparent yellow box” inside a minimal and sober space. To complete the office new image, we create an archive and a printing area, while the break area is next to the comfortable and double-high relax/greeting area. Read less
