Apartment Renovation in Bormio

The renovation concerns a housing unit of 50m2 at the last floor of an elegant building in the historical centre of Bormio. Our first aim was to spatially redefine the two-room apartment in respect of the existing functional program: a living room, a bedroom and a bathroom. The renovation concerns a housing unit of 50m2 at the last floor of an elegant building in the historical centre of Bormio. Our first aim was to spatially redefine the two-room apartment in respect of the existing functional program: a living room, a bedroom and a bathroom. We respond providing an open living area in the most representative part of the house, overlooking the main village’s square, where you can also enjoy the mountain landscape. In the original configuration the kitchen was separate from the living room by a long distributive corridor. We responded with a modern solution, dividing the intimate area from the representative one. Following this demand, from the entrance, running covering of the walls, organizes and decides the spaces and rooms. A full-height oak wood boiserie embraces from one side, the bathroom and the sleeping area, while on the opposite side, the panels in white lacquer - lighten up by a continuous LED strip – invites the guests in the bright living area. The continuity of the covering and the modularity of the panels cancel out the perception of the doors of the rooms, in advantage of the equipped storage units. The doors differentiate from the furniture doors only by different milling of the recessed handle. In this way, following the corridor, the position of the bedroom and the bathroom is not immediately revealed. Read less
